Yesterday after I was interviewed about my blog & style by the fashion director of web platform Fashiolista ♥ (I’ll keep you guys posted on when it’s being published) I kept strolling around in the 9 streets (an area with fabulous little shops in the centre of Amsterdam). I wasn’t even looking for anything in particular but I noticed a (vintage looking) shop that I never saw before; The Darling. The window display instantly caught my eye; little cupcakes spinning around on an old pink vinyl player and a lot of bright colored fashion items. It was instant attraction! I walked into the shop and had a chat with the owner; she was the sweetest pretty blond curly head. I asked her if the stuff is vintage but she told me everything is brand new with an exception from a single vintage item from now and then. This is definitely a good address to shop for little fringe dresses, original bags and very cute jewelry. Oh and she actually sells real delicious cupcakes, how cute is that?!
Nadat ik gisteren geïnterviewd was over mijn blog & mijn stijl door de fashion director van mode platform Fashiolista ♥ (ik zal jullie op de hoogte houden over de publicatie) besloot ik om nog wat rond te struinen in de 9 straatjes in Amsterdam. Ik was niet op zoek naar iets in het bijzonder maar plotseling stuitte ik tegen een (vintage ogend) winkeltje aan die ik nog nooit opgemerkt had genaamd The Darling. De etalage viel mij meteen op door de kleine cupcakes die rond spinden op een oude roze platenspeler en felgekleurde fashion items. Het trok mij meteen aan! Ik liep het winkeltje in en maakte een praatje met de eigenaresse. Wat een lieve blonde krullenbol. Ik vroeg haar of de spullen vintage zijn maar ze vertelde mij dat alles gloednieuw is met af en toe een uitzondering als ze en speciaal vintage item aanbied. Dit is zeker een uitstekend adres om te shoppen voor een fladderig jurkje, een originele tas of super schattige sieraden. Oh en ze verkoopt ook heerlijke cupcakes, hoe leuk?!

This shop is magnificent. You don’t have to feel guilty when you spend your whole month salary at once in this shop because it’s fair & eco fashion. That means that every item is created with respect for people and the planet. Owners Charlotte & Marieke are very proud to have made this dream come true, finally they can show the world that green & fair products are cool! Personally I think the interior of the concept store is very romantic and country-ish, but with a modern twist. For instance there’s furniture putt up high up against the wall/sealing and in the area in the back there’s this coffee corner where you can totally spend some time philosophizing or read your book (perfect SATC scenario). I also love the beauty products and some very odd but cool scented candles (Mojito & Cannabis scent, how genius?). Deze winkel is GE-WEL-DIG. Je hoeft je voor geen seconde schuldig te voelen wanneer je hier in een klap je hele maand salaris spendeert want het is eerlijke en ecologische fashion. Dat betekent dat elk item met respect voor mensen & de aarde is gecreëerd. Eigenaressen Charlotte en Mieke zijn dan ook apentrots dat ze deze droom verwezenlijkt hebben, eindelijk kunnen ze de wereld laten zien dat groen & fair producten cool zijn! Ik kreeg van het interieur van de concept store een romantisch & landelijk gevoel maar wel met een moderne twist. Zo zijn er hoog aan de muren (bijna tegen het plafond aan) meubels bevestigd en in het achterste gedeelte is er een snoezige koffie hoek waar je lekker met je favoriete boek kan zitten of even kunt filosoferen (perfecte SATC scenario). Ook de beauty producten zijn om hebberig van te worden en ik zag ook hele bizzare maar geweldige geurkaarsen (Mojito & Cannabis geur, hoe verzin je het?). If you’re looking for something unique to wear you should visit Vezjun in the centre of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). It’s a little cute store that has been there since 2004. Every piece is unique and handmade by the designers (really, I’m not lying). I took a peek inside today and just wanted to buy the whole store! Oh and the little corners with accessories made it feel so homey. I will definitely come back to Vezjun again!

A couple of days ago I was invited to come and celebrate my stepsister/BFF’s private birthday soirée (I like using expensive French words to make it sound more interesting). This beautiful vixen works for Louis Vuitton (how handy) and has worked in NY as a stylist. A sparkling young woman like Malaya Wibmer needs more then one dress on her special day so she took the opportunity to rock two little dresses during the celebration. The first one was an apple green silk cocktail dress by Karen Millen combined with sizzling hot eclectic blue pumps. The lipstick is the classic red one from Chanel and the ‘temporary skin art’ in the neck is from Chanel as well (designed by Peter Philips). After an intimate ‘get-together with some of her closest friends (the home made mojito punch was yummy by the way) it was time for the after party in one of Amsterdam’s hottest club’s: The Rain. The gorgeous diva changed into a sexy mini LBD from River Island & black LV sling backs (with bow on front). She finished the look with a vintage fuschia clutch and poncho-scarf from Pieces because you never know what the weather might bring in this rainy country…
